I don't think I agree with Microsoft's long term strategy. I understand their core business started being seriously encroached on by two competing "disruptive" paradigms, the curated, walled garden model of smartphones and tablets, and the "everything is a service" model, but I think they should have stood their ground and defended their previous "computer as a tool" model instead of compromising it to make a failed push into the first disruptive paradigm, then compromising it further for a more succesful push into the second.
