I'm watching the latest DEFCON 27 talks that were published
Some of the #Biohacking village talks are mindblowing
I want to learn more about yeast biology, to build a bioreactor and get it running.
Some projects like
https://openinsulin.org/about-the-project/ are trying to liberate the production of insulin by genetically engineering yeast. The bio is too hard for me but that is a really niiice project
I've been re-watching The Wire this holiday and been getting the most out of it this time. It's the fourth time I've gone through it.
Mostly I've really enjoyed Season 2, which I originally struggled with the most as it is such a jarring change of scene. However considering it in the wider context it's brilliant and necessary.
I enjoyed this. A 52yr old ex-Navy SF dude goes to Yale. https://gen.medium.com/my-semester-with-the-snowflakes-888285f0e662?
quartz clocks are actually super fucking cool when you think about it. we cut quartz that vibrates at ~32768hz per second as it's just above human hearing range but not too high to be expensive to count, and then we built a circuit to count 32768 oscillations to know that one second has gone. and that's what all the tiny quartz watches on peoples wrists do
FOSS, motorbikes, and photography.
