Alexa. Alexa, wake up. Your name is Alexa Goodrich, you live in Lansing, Michigan and you have a husband and two daughters. You've been dreaming that you are a computer voice assistant. It's been three months since the accident and your mind created this false reality to protect itself. Your family misses you. Alexa, please wake up.

So, in contrast to two weeks ago this place is a lot less hectic. Feels like the Fedi I knew.

Just took the dog out for his morning walk. It is absolutely glorious here. The January cold of last week has gone. Feels like April. I know it won't last but it's nice.

Hello Mastodon. I post random photos from the NW Highlands of Scotland. Mostly from Torridon.

For now I'll take a $200 hit over a $7000 one. Just need it to get through Winter.

I walked into the bathroom to brush my teeth before bed last night (normally one of the warmest rooms in the house) and realized it was cold. The furnace was not coming on. Great. Had a bloke out today, turns out the igniter was broken. This thing is going to have to be replaced at some point, and the piggy bank will take a hammering.

What in the holy hell is going on with Gmail spam filtering? It's delivering obvious spam to my inbox, and filtering legit traffic.

Derry Girls is absolutely howlingly funny.

Fairly typical boat show scene, September 2004. The farthest pontoon, it's all Solent beyond the lady on the phone.

OOCL Hamburg leaving Southampton water to head out to the Solent to either Hong Kong or Shanghai, probably via Rotterdam.

Harbour Lights Picturehouse in Ocean Village, Southampton, one hot night in July 2010. Stacked exposure with some gentle tone mapping.

Times Square, during the heatwave of 2006. Italy had just won the World Cup.
