It's interesting to see the modern content model being tried on Mastodon, with some success (because I see the boosts, although n=1 here so 🤷 )

Here's how it works:

Johnny Big-Follower Tech Personality writes an article - largely negative - about $CURRENT_THING that article is shared on $CURRENT_THING, generating clicks, revenue, and the fabled 'buzz' craved by every marketing dickhead in the land.

Rinse and repeat.

It is engaged with because it's seen as validation of the platform; here is this big shot (but he's ever so humble!) writing about our pet, and even if he's been here two minutes, it's nice to be noticed right?

@sullybiker ohhhh is this about something specific because i mustve missed it

@aimlessComposer There's been a few, but the latest is Aral Balkan

@sullybiker i dunno who that is are they on the journo instance i got that muted

@aimlessComposer part of the tech influencer sphere. That community and I hate to say it and the infosec community have a groupie problem. It's sort of icky.

@aimlessComposer It's too close to my day job and Linkedin and all that shit. I can't stand it.

@aimlessComposer Some of the nicest people I'd met were devs from Facebook, in LA (Don't feel sorry for me haha)
