I'm really glad Triggernometry bumped Bari Weiss ahead of Sam Harris and Eric Weinstein. I think Sam Harris has revealed himself publicly as a bit of a charlatan in the past couple of years and I think Weinstein is somewhere up around the rings of saturn on a good day. I'll start the EP because I'm always curious to see how the triggerbois want to frame the conversation, but I don't have my hopes up.

I was so interested to hear that Bari had a similar experience to me in college in terms of colonial attitudes and specifically FGM. I had an almost identical conversation with someone! I walked away like WHAT THE FUCK how can you just not denounce cutting up little girls? Anytime I even hear Foucault now I just go "I hear my mother calling me"

@Gelatinousrube I go back and forth on Sam. He has said some ostensibly really stupid stuff, but on a longer timeline he tends to make sense. His whole breakdown of his social media departure was brilliant.

@sullybiker I like the lane he's in with mindfulness and meditation for sure. I've listened to a lot of his lectures. (I adore "On Having No Head.") I do think he's revealed himself as very human, which is fine, and not this cool atheist IDW Jedi master. I guess we all have those reckonings at times!

@Gelatinousrube For me his biggest flaw is really going off when something clearly hits a nerve. It's as if he's never followed his own advice. But as you say he has a humanity about it which is easy to like.

@Gelatinousrube @sullybiker I will not tolerate the blabbalings of a "biologist" oriented "atheist" -- that angle is 1000s times derivative of the actual evidence-based sciences. They always go back to the medieval philosophies ofIdeals and Forms, being the intellectual tards that they are.
