To my shock, I was laid off today, another senseless casualty of the perpetual re-orging and belt-tightening that follows being acquired by a private equity firm. Despite the fact that I've give three different product demos in as many weeks, apparently I am not contributing enough. I feel deeply and profoundly betrayed by a job that I loved. To be clear, this was an upper management decision; my former coworkers and friends are just as shocked and saddened as me.

@c_dan4th I'm really sorry to hear that. One thing I've learnt over countless layoff periods (and being made redundant twice) is that what you do doesn't make any difference. You could be the model employee but this only matters if the leadership care. They don't. Hope you find something that values you, but try and remember: We are not our jobs.
