"Let me compile Node", Pomax said. "Oh okay deadsnakes are assholes and *removed* support instead of freezing it, guess I'll compile Python 3.11 myself", Pomax said. Only to discover it needed 12 additional dependencies installed. Which he installed. Then compiled Python. Then went back to Node. Which wanted GCC 10. "Okay, let me compile THAT, then", Pomax said.

The worst thing is that ALL OF THIS WORKS, WHY DO *I* HAVE TO DO THIS?

Surely, 2025 will be the year of Linux on the desktop.

Seriously, if I CAN compile all this bullshit on Ubuntu 16, what the hell is wrong with just paying some folks to keep the PPA's up to date, even if the OS isn't.

You don't want me to use Ubuntu 16? GUESS WHAT I ALSO DON'T WANT TO DO BUT HEY SURPRISE NOT ALL OF US GET A CHOICE?

Goddamnit @ubuntu, I want to like you, but this is the kind of thing that makes me want to stab someone through my monitor.

It's just an older linux version, it didn't magically stop working. It's not MacOS.
