It is absolutely mindblowing that:

SELECT COUNT(*) FROM table_name;

on a table with over 70M rows takes tens of minutes and upwards to an hour to complete.

Seriously, this should be *SUCH* a frequently encountered query throughout history that all DB engines should recognize this pattern and just peek a "row counter" value from the table's data structure.
