@dick_turpin The level of hysteria about this is all quite ridiculous.
@dick_turpin Hysteria tends to be collective. People are also saying it is collapsing. It is not collapsing. It's a very strange place, Twitter.
@dick_turpin You do get these mass waves of people all bleating the same talking points. It is what it is. What I'm less tolerant of is they bring that mentality here.
@sullybiker My only worry is if certain sections of the Twitterscape start the same shenanigans here of stifling freedom of thought and or expression because it doesn't align with certain groups' agendas and or viewpoints. Mind you, I dunno what I'm worried about, I have my own instance to fall back on, but it would make my experience and the Fediverse sterile.
@dick_turpin The problem is people being here for five minutes and behaving exactly like they did at the other place, and complaining it doesn't work the way they want. I just don't care and wish they would go away.
@dick_turpin ..because they already have something that catered for them, and it's called Twitter.
@sullybiker LOL
Yeah, I have seen some of that. tbf.
@sullybiker We had this last time when it was just a rumour that he was going to buy it; although I agree, not on the scale we have seen over the last couple of days.
I'm wondering if there's a deeper, underlying reason for the exodus other than the fact the demonised Elon Musk has bought it. I mean, come on, the fact you're gonna lose your blue tick is surely not a big enough issue that you need to jump ship? 🤷♂️
