If you're in Florida you're probably aware of a hurricane with estimated "Maximum sustained winds are near 75 mph (120 km/h)" on your eastern coast. But it looks like it'll curve over Florida before crossing over Georga and working its way up the western sides of the Carolinas and Virginia. So hey have more rain & wind over there on the east coast.

If you're outside of Florida you can be disappointed that it is close to but will still not directly hit the former presidents private club & residence

@alienghic I feel sorry for those people that are just getting over the last one.

@sullybiker

Yep. it is, at least, much less severe than hurricane Ian.

The thing that's really dangerous is storm surge. Hurricane Ian had regions getting 15 feet of storm surge. This is predicted to max out at 6.

@alienghic I'm grateful I live somewhere that just doesn't get extreme weather. It would be extremely stressful.

@sullybiker

Yeah over here in southern california severe weather is mostly "drought" and "too hot"

@alienghic I remember we got a PhD from SoCAL. Poor lad came in October. Said to me "Is it always like this?" "No, it gets much worse".

@alienghic Although I *loved* my week in LA a few years ago, completely against my expectations.

@sullybiker

"I decided to take the highway back. It was about 4pm. This would turn out to be very poor judgement. LA's traffic has a reputation, and it is well deserved"

Yes. Very much yes.

Nice review of the area.

I think it's like a bunch of various towns and cities all got squished together in one unending sprawl.

@alienghic That gave me fits. I was already out for most of the day (blew off the afternoon of the conference) and I was worried my boss was wondering what i was doing. He was in the bar and didn't give a shit.

@alienghic And the contrast driving to LAX at 3am was intense. It was like the canyon run in Star Wars. Fast and frantic, although i have to say the LA drivers are a bit more chill than the east coast.

@sullybiker

At some point the hopelessness grinds you down.

You know you're stuck, and not going anywhere fast. There's only so long you can keep fighting to try and be first.

@alienghic I liked that you could nudge over and people would make room for you. Here they'd make a point of trying ot cut you off.

@sullybiker Yeah several of those shots have a blade runner feel. The Luxe and the construction site at the end I think.

@alienghic That was a weird morning. No sleep, went out at 4am for a walk (the Herbalife HQ next to the hotel had a fire alarm blaring all night) and to my surprise there were a lot of people about. Women jogging, guys in cowboy hats going to work..it was a surreal urban odyssey.
