I went to the preservation society's wooden and stone houses today. Very cool. One room had the occupants dresses from ~1920, with photographs of her wearing them. Women were absolutely tiny little things then.

And a much older wedding dress from the 1800s; it wasn't white because there was no such thing as occasional clothing, for the working classes, she would wear it for regular household work.
