Funny how mentioning that Roald Dahl and RL Stein books have been edited by publishers (neither with the permission of the authors) gets you downvoted into oblivion on Reddit.

People don’t want to see the truth. They don’t understand that this IS censorship. The news about Dahl was all over the news, but I doubt most Redditors read or watch the news. (And I seriously doubt this was a well viewed issue on Reddit.) Stein wasn’t even notified that his books were being changed. How is this NOT censorship? Yes, books are edited, but editing years after initial publication in order to not hurt people’s feelings is opening another can of worms.

I am so adamant about having free speech and not censoring or changing already published books in order to appease anyone. If we do not have free speech, then what do we have?

I may not support what you say, but I will fight for your right to say it.

@ChasingWaterfalls You can't detach context from things. Judging literary works using contemporary standards and then changing things - in a few years this will be seen as madness.
