I think it's important to remember that both Windows Phone and BB10 shipped browsers with the URL bar at the bottom like a decade before Apple did it. They were right then, and Apple was right to do it when they did.

That Google made the move before Apple and then walked it back is very frustrating to me, but here's to hoping it gets reintroduced to Chromium so all the derivative browsers can offer it, instead of just the ones who never removed the last implementation.
