So, I founded a rock band last year, "Lipstick Driver"

It's loud

REALLY loud

And I was a fool who didn't wear hearing protection, so ...

... I got tinnitus! Wheeee

@clive Some of the tech changes in live music have served to reduce by an order of magnitude the volume on stage. Put your guitars straight into the desk via digital pre-amp (assuming you even have a desk...), get rid of the wedge monitors and use buds. Look after those wiggies! I know it's not going to 11 but it's for the best.

@sullybiker

Agreed, tech has made it easier to go quieter

The problem is really acoustic drums

If you want those to have a certain intensity at times -- and we certainly do -- there's no real way to dampen *that* ...

... and it puts a floor on how quiet you can go

@clive Has your drummer considered triggers? Gives a lot of options for sound especially if they are blended with the acoustic kit.

@sullybiker

Yeah, we're totally down for that -- you can get some *very* cool electronic sounds that way!
