My bus driver is getting a test today! I think he’s new. He’s doing so well!!

It was cute though he panicked and did a full open door stop at a timed stop (here that means they can’t leave the stop until X time) but there was no one and we were at 2 min past time so he didn’t actually have to stop. But it’s good he erred on the side of the route.

@platypus They did that on an actual revenue route? That's pretty nerve-racking for the poor driver.

@sullybiker I assume it’s like the final exam? To prove they can stop for people and pull back into traffic and everything. But yeah, definitely would be stressed myself

I think my county bus does training runs during the middle of the day sometimes. I had a trainee driver for an errand on Monday, and it always gives me a new appreciation for how tricky it can be to, you know, stop in the right place when you're handling such a large vehicle!

@calimae @platypus I suppose they have to do it sometime with people on board, otherwise there's no way to assess a driver under actual operating conditions. They do an amazing job, transit drivers. A lot of cars will try and argue with a bus.
