I see the same problem on Mastodon, Bluesky, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, Facebook, etc.
The Apple iPhone as a media devices has created a society that is incredibly attracted to liars, falsehoods, and disinformation.
It is all as bad as Fox News and Newsmax HDTV and people share junk information without any self-awareness or education on media ecology.
