If you go to any open source event it's quite evident that the corporate takeover is ostensibly complete anyway. Virtually every project of note is run by employees of large commercial interests.

I do wonder if desktop Linux is just going to be a hellish mix of free and proprietary components in the future. It seems almost inevitable as Windows fades more and the ecosystem becomes more bastardized.

@lain Enjoy some of that malty beer...I think it was called Bernard? Anyway it is very quaffable and yet as strong as wine. I lost about five hours in Prague thanks to that stuff. I'd tell you where the bar was but I actually don't remember.

@clacke I dislike the mob vibe around a lot of it. There is a power element behind it and the motivation is rarely decent.

It's a small part of the Fedi but I like the fact there's different languages in my feed. Even if I don't always understand what they're saying (I have very basic French comprehension) I like the fact it feels truly international.

I never expected that when you're dealing with a serious disease there is quite so much pressure from others for good news. It becomes rather stressful.
