@onepict @JohnMashey@mstdn.social It'll never happen

If you enjoy a bit of Shakespeare, do check out his version of Coriolanus, with Gerard Butler failing to be Gerard Butler (in the good way).

Quite enjoy the bonkers Ralph Fiennes 'The Menu' although very surprised just how close it is to Glass Onion in feel. It's a nice antidote to rich-assholes-in-a-nice-place though, which Glass Onion also enjoys a lot of.

@h_thoreson OMG imagine the selfies.

I like to think there is an SSID at the Summit of Everest, if not I would like to put one there and have it be named "Hope the $60000 was worth it!

@h_thoreson I have a daily fear people will figure out I have no idea what I'm doing.

@h_thoreson "Remove the stone of shame! Attach the stone of triumph!"

@h_thoreson I remember when I first got into photography and wanted the shiny and expensive bits of kit there was always this thought that "this item will be the thing that makes everything amazing" and then you have it and the rivers run with chocolate milk and it rains gold pennies but a little while later THERE IS ANOTHER THING THAT WILL MAKE YOU WHOLE.

I'm laughing at myself because there are entire philosophical movements that figured this out about 1000s of years ago.

@h_thoreson My dad used to have this theory about people building things they really want: It is really the process of creation they enjoy, which is why so many build dream homes they then sell immediately.
I've definitely had that with PCs and *things* too; the enjoyment of thinking "This is the thing that I will enjoy and make use of" Then two weeks later it is just..stuff.

Although your point about the feelings around the world being shut down is also very relatable. It sucked out the joy

I used to hate the hamster wheel of going through the job hunting process. It is a surprise just how little better it is on the other side of the equation.

@Shawz There must have been some contractual issue holding him at Ferrari until now. It's basically a move.

@Shawz That is weird at this time in the season.

@l0ngyap@akm.longyap.name.my It begins.

@checkervest @MmeLibertine Here's another lesson: If you don't play the game, you're 'difficult'. I know it is even worse for women because the expectation of passivity is higher.

@checkervest @MmeLibertine I realized quite an insidious thing in management (which I now am) whereby being pushed into unfavorable positions gets dressed up as compromise and 'business realities'. It's very strange.

@1iceloops123@shitposter.club Social credit is something even Orwell never foresaw, or the lean towards authoritarianism with no apparent external pressure.

@ItsTrainingCatsAndDogs@kolektiva.social Management don't want you doing this because it shows the reality that there are winners and losers and it's all in the game and they don't want anyone pulling the curtain back on it.

@ItsTrainingCatsAndDogs@kolektiva.social I've been told off in the past for doing this, but not officially sanctioned. You're not guilty of anything, they are not a court of law and the 'charges' (and I absolutely mean the quotes) are arbitrary bullshit. Both of those things can also be leveled squarely at management.

A little bit of Winter clapback these last two days. Very cold mornings, but it gives way to mild highs later. There's talk of snow tomorrow. We will see..
