@HebrideanHecate I think this is one of the biggest changes in the Western world in the last few decades. It is incredibly difficult for people on median incomes to have families without being obligated to return to work.
It is 7F/-13C outside. I want to stay home but alas work calls.

@onepict To be fair, I am not being snarky. Might-is-right tends to prevail in these things; the companies that bring the money and therefore the staff just elbow their way into the policy decisions so what you get is a 'standards body' that's actually bought and paid for through corporate embrace.

When Desert Storm started the Royal Air Force were fairly well represented in the casualty reports. This was pre-internet, it was all TV or print, I knew a few school friends with parents involved and It was pretty nail biting in the early days.
