I'm glad to announce the release of version 2.61 of #snac, the simple, minimalistic #ActivityPub instance server written in C. It includes the following changes:

Migration from a Mastodon account to a snac one has been implemented. Please see snac(8) (the administrator manual) for more information.

Mastodon API: fixed timelines/public (it was showing less posts that it should).

Fixed over-zealous caching to the public timeline.

Some HTML tweaks and fixes to the web interface.

This release has been inspired by the painting The Hands Resist Him by #BillStoneham.

@RoyBrander@urbanists.social @stefano There's some class elements to it, I think. There's an association with it being lower-tier work, not a profession, which so many young people aspire to. It's totally wrong in my opinion, but I appear to be against the trend here.

@stefano There should not be two tracks, 'management' OR 'technical' and I find the culture very irritating. The best people keep their hand in, how else do they know what is going on?

@stefano This is a very common scenario. My own manager has said so, and I have had the same experience since being promoted.

A possum got into my recycling bin and could not get out. He's still sleeping in it.

Once you see the connection between LLMs and psychics / seances / spiritualism, it’s hard to unsee. At the center: people •want• to believe, and that is powerful. Thinking of modern-day SV, listen to some of the stories of how con artists used spiritualism…

An interesting musical curio is Sting's original demo for Every Breath You Take (he turned up to Synchronicity sessions with fully-formed demos of most of his stuff; the bellwether for the end of The Police). Andy Summers absolutely hated it, until he wrote *that* guitar part and the rest is history.

It's finally time. After years of deliberation, #Minetest is finally ready to adopt a new identity and prove it has moved beyond its original purpose. We can finally move past the "mining" and the "testing" and focus on making this platform the best it can be.

@HebrideanHecate Rather embarrassingly they have put these cultures on a pedestal.

@HebrideanHecate I had to read 'slave market' twice. There is an economic system around selling people there. In 2024.
