@Flick UK plod lost the plot ages ago. The Caroline Farrow stuff was very weird, and reminiscent of the sort of thing the Stasi used to do to people.

The blade had dulled over three summers, it had some fairly sizable nicks in it and I decided to purchase a replacement for about $28. That did it. It's as good as new. I'll try and repair the old one and use it as a spare, but I need some tools.

My 40v 20" Ryobi electric mower - which had previously been one of my favorite purchases started to perform really badly this summer. It would clog constantly, and seemed to be consuming the battery a lot faster. The problem was my ignorance of mowers.
