Modern management: "You see, we bought this ship, but it's just so expensive, and you all cost so much to run it. What we'd like you to do for this financial year is drive it full speed into an iceberg. This will drive efficiency, and allow us to sink more ship with less iceberg, and allow this very expensive undertaking to just sink to the bottom of the ocean. This makes management comfortable, and should you survive, you'll get a staff service award"
