Mastodon bashing, a disappointment.

@lynnskyi@mindly.social I had/have paraneoplastic syndrome, complications from cancer basically. Really did a number on my eyes. I wrote about it here:

Mastodon bashing, a disappointment.

@lynnskyi@mindly.social I am actually partially sighted ('legally' blind in the left eye) and glad there is a community here. Generally the fediverse has been great for such things.

Mastodon bashing, a disappointment.

@lynnskyi@mindly.social There is also a type that spends all their time fighting on Twitter, and that's just not the vibe here. The worst part is, they don't know it of themselves.

@rixx@chaos.social We lost a wonderful community because they allowed some motivated bullies to set the tone of the place.

@rixx@chaos.social I actually gave it up in the end because the stress was overriding any enjoyment I had. I warned the owner and he didn't listen, and the place shut down.

Mastodon bashing, a disappointment.

@lynnskyi@mindly.social Good! People can forget it takes a long time to build a network. It requires more patience than most have. I hope you enjoy it here.

Mastodon bashing, a disappointment.

@lynnskyi@mindly.social Twitter has the collective memory of a goldfish, people like to gripe, but ultimately they are where they want to be. A better community doesn't really interest them.

Mastodon bashing, a disappointment.

@lynnskyi@mindly.social History. It has happened many times, this just happens to be the biggest.

@rixx@chaos.social I have a tiny instance, but I used to moderate a forum and so much of this is familiar. Particularly those users that are absolutely determined to cause trouble. They drove me crazy.

@GuidingLiteracy@mstdn.social I know scholar.social had a lot of education people on it, but they hide their public timeline so 🤷 but I'm sure you'll find some people.

Mastodon bashing, a disappointment.

@lynnskyi@mindly.social It isn't anything new. It doesn't change the experience here, thankfully. Also be ready for a large number of people that came here to not stay.

@coldacid@noagendasocial.com @Effortless@noagendasocial.com If society is answering "yes, we should kill our children" then the question needs a very good look indeed, or pretty soon you're in "You know what, I don't want my kid anymore, maybe I can just have it murdered"

Looking at U2's back catalogue on Spotify, nearly everything gets an anniversary dust-off, with remixes and additional tracks. But not 'Pop'. That clearly remains an experiment they'd rather forget about, which is a shame, because it has some good stuff.

@why@shitposter.club Have you been drinking in the gold ballroom again

I wonder if Red Bull got on top of their tyre problems overnight. If not, this might finally be the end of the mighty Max win juggernaut. But Sundays have continually proved they get it right on the day.

@rooktallon@dragonscave.space Not..that I know. If you feel like it, there might be an opportunity there to get a VPS and spin up your own.

@maiertech@mastodon.online @bfdi@social.bund.de Was it not Munich that had the very progressive adoption of open source a few years ago? I applaud the German's willingness to try such things, for better or worse.

reddit, drugs, stupid posts

@void You have to admit there is a darwinian quality to it.

@dcm@triangletoot.party It's a game, and this shows how it works.
