@lynnskyi@dragonscave.space I would keep doing what you're doing - you get good life out of them!

@Natanox Ouch. It is known for shitting itself on occasion.

@lynnskyi@dragonscave.space It might be just fine..I've known a few full size drives die early but haven't had a single portable device fail in that way.

@lynnskyi@dragonscave.space If you consider Windows it isn't really designed to be rebooted, it *is* designed to sleep. Hell, even shutdowns are a form of hibernation now.

@lynnskyi@dragonscave.space There was a concern on mechanical (rotational platter) drives that the constant restarts were bad - and it's a good point - but with SSDs I would not think twice about it.

@lynnskyi@dragonscave.space I think this is slightly overstated. I've not known it be an issue, and I've had a shitload of different laptops in 10yrs at my job. They are designed to do it.

@vaartis The entire market has become shorthand for the fact that people will pay money for things they know to be unfinished. It's ripe for exploitation.

@vriska The effect of that was much stronger before xmas, when they really were maddening.

@dave This is almost precisely aligned with David Irving's self-immolating trajectory.

@vaartis One of the many virtues of a free market is we get the products we deserve. If people don't want early access games, stop buying them. The model does get abused, but does so because people are so cloying for product.

@RahowasaurusRex1979@mugicha.club @dave back in your basement you fucking loser.

@dave I wouldn't concern yourself with them. It goes nowhere.

@egaal@mastodon.social Endurance racing is something special, and finishing a 24hr event in anything is an incredible achievement. They should all be very proud.

@egaal@mastodon.social The electrical eel recharging Is proper LOL

@why@shitposter.club That'll be 34 pages of 'don't be a retard' and 1 page of 'here's how you load it and shoot it'

It's so mad to think we're basically into Spring. Least snowfall since records began in PGH, I think over 100 years, something like fractions of an inch in February.

I don't like Winter at all but I also like the comfort of feeling that it still exists outside of the period on a calendar.

@nuala Only if I can have some sort of boardgame where I can rationalise the data (I had to do this at college, still shudder)
