Pre-surgery anxiety

@Juju I used to get quite irate. Hope it is a smooth ride and you recover as quickly as possible.

Toughest part was kernel compilation. I am completely out of practice with it and It took a bloody age to get it right. KISS discourages an initrd philosophically, so you have to have all your drivers compiled in, which defeats my usual hack of 'just use Slackware's config'.

Also the default name for the local Wayland repo is 'wayland' which causes problems when it comes to building 'wayland'. The script is cd'ing into $PACKAGE_NAME, and it doesn't know to look for it one level deeper.

Dabbling in KISS Linux has been quite enjoyable, if surprisingly challenging. For pissing about on Linux all I really need is a terminal and a Browser, and that's just what you get. Firefox would not build without a patch which I had to dig around for, and there were one or two other things, but generally a positive experience.

@christine@tech.lgbt @rysiek That's good to hear. I know a few people (mainly women) have been harassed by instances set up purely for that purpose. At least there's tools.

@prehensile@tech.lgbt One of them is now dead

@Mitsu I'd fall in love with a man if they organized my cables

@threalist The press was all "Who the fuck is this guy?"

@threalist When Jurgen Kiinsmann was the Soccer team coach I had to explain to people exactly who he was, because he didn't have any background they knew. The reporting was terrible. He is a literal legend in Europe and England.

Terribly said about Darrell. He was an absolutely lovely bloke.

They had this small-gig energy about them, and Anselmo - love him or loathe him - knew how to work a crowd.

Saw Pantera about a year after this in Newcastle. They were incredible, probably the most energetic set I ever witnessed. Before the gig they were just hanging out in the car park throwing a football about. No pretensions at all.

engagement stats, meta

@neglesaks I am glad someone said it. Leave that shit at the other place.

@Cbrooklyn112@noagendasocial.com @Genen @christopherbattles@noagendasocial.com He had some good songs too

@theauracle I think that's it, I also think it's boredom. People haven't figured out their most precious thing is time, and so spending it joining or spinning up instances just get angry at people they don't know about things they don't care about.
