Interesting watching a windows client do a full update from a fresh install in a hypervisor. What's it doing? Why is it taking so fucking long? The answer is God knows, and not much, apparently. Lots of CPU thrash but little else. I assumed I/O was always a bottleneck but there's not much going on with the storage.

Teams is working well. Been in a meeting for an hour and audio is fine.

Of course they sent it to my old address. I updated my address in their online portal - which they sacked all their service staff to pay for - but apparently this does not mean things will be mailed to my new address because clown world.

I am awaiting a new bank card and so had to call my bank. 2 minutes to get through the automated button press bit, then a hold for eight minutes, at which point I am asked the same questions. How the *fuck* did this get so broken?

I had a power supply let go on a server. A loud clank (imagine a piece of aluminium dropping to the floor. Light grey smoke issuing forth, smell of Best Buy. Very alarming but the weirdest part is that everything (including knackered PSU) had green LEDs.

Fedora 39 ships the updates Network Manager open connect by default, which means MFA works now. This is a big deal for me, frees me from fucking Cisco proprietary crap which also meant being forced into a debian based distro.

I know it's been like this for a long time, but truly the mobile web has been absolutely wrecked by aggressive and intrusive advertising. It's disgraceful.

Every so often the ploughs go down the main road at the back of the house. Lots of steep hills here so they'll be doing this all night.
