@aimlessComposer The keyring breakage is an ancient one they still have not got an automated fix for.

@aimlessComposer I know Arch pretty well. It does occasionally do strange things. It needs regular care and he doesn't really use it enough. Long update gaps often cause problems.

Arch install on Son's PC absolutely hosed itself. Suspect something got corrupted because even chroot is fighting me.

@Pipski @Aldi@cdrom.tokyo ..Although I didn;t realise you had that made!

Jim boosted

@sullybiker @Aldi@cdrom.tokyo indeed. I had to have a 20m null modem cable specially made so we could string it round the outside of the house, remember?

@Pipski @Aldi@cdrom.tokyo Icertainly do. Quake too!

@strypey I have, for example, startedd seeing a lot of posts here which are essentially: 'well, here's an exceptionally shit take." That is very Twitter.

@strypey I remember when it was polite to ask people even before posting a link to them, back in the early days. Times change. hugh is definitely correct that Twitter encouraged this kind of very aggressive, near-pugilistic culture which was definitely unhealthy.

@thatbrickster@shitposter.club Absolute stonking troll game those lads

@Aldi@cdrom.tokyo I remember playing that with @Pipski over Null modem cable. It was ace.

@erinbee I always wonder "What is it that only those people know?"

@mrmcmayhem@noagendasocial.com There's an entire story of the UK government's 'Managed Decline' phase of the 1960s where they dismantled industry because they *decided* Britain could not and should not compete with economic partners.

@mrmcmayhem@noagendasocial.com Like Britain in the 80s everyone was expected to go into service and retail jobs. No skill, just drones, at the mercy of the stock exchange.

@checkervest I followed some motorcycle racing people at the other place because they're usually quite nice, but that's about it.

@checkervest Down in the landing gear bay, with condensate dripping on you
