@slott56 Secondly, some LTS distributions carry python versions that reach end-of-life well within the LTS window, like Python 3.8 is EOL next year for security updates, a full year before Ubuntu 20.04 reaches EOL.

@slott56 Some of this is ubuntu-isms; i.e. development being targeted at the most popular platforms (because those are the images the devs are using) and that environment not fully translating to enterprise linux offerings.

@slott56 It is not the base packages causing the problem. They're fine.

@slott56 It's mainly people trying to use modules and certain system libraries not being there. Didn't use to come up much, had about three this week.

From a #sysadmin point of view, #python seems to have got increasingly messy.
