@DrLindseyFitzharris @ruud@mastodon.world @TealCartoons@mastodon.world That's a good thing to do. Hosting is not cheap, and the work involved is considerable.

@vwbusguy That's the smart way to do it. Gets Fedora of any legal hooks I expect.

If you were concerned about #Fedora losing some of the native graphics processing bits in mesa (#vaapi, #h264, #h265, #va1, etc.), #RPMFusion now has mesa-freeworld in testing to bring it back.

@stux No more than 100. they'll try for 2-300.

Have we had many scammers yet? I don't think I've seen any obvious accounts.

@thatbrickster@shitposter.club @MischievousTomato@beefyboys.win You'll need that for your heating bill

@TriptychTwins-partdeux@spinster.xyz @BILLSan345@spinster.xyz Did he asl "WHERE THE WIMMIN AT" during the DEI training

@thatbrickster@shitposter.club @MischievousTomato@beefyboys.win Speaking of which they're doing an 8GB SOC for that. It's in development.I think actually 8 or 16.

@MischievousTomato@beefyboys.win @thatbrickster@shitposter.club

The main thing you'll miss is the snap of X86. The ARM Linux experience can be a bit sluggish but it's far from terrible. KDE goes surprisingly well but for this kind of thing I really like I3/Sway to really keep the resources down

@MischievousTomato@beefyboys.win @thatbrickster@shitposter.club Work issues us Macs and I find myself spending nearly all my time on them. They're pretty decent.

@MischievousTomato@beefyboys.win @thatbrickster@shitposter.club

Deoends really what you're doing with it. It's a $200 laptop you can easily travel with, if you just need internet and a CLI it's fine.

@toiletpaper@shitposter.club @scanlime@misc.name @sim@shitposter.club SPC was one of my earliest Fedi experiences and if I followed the doctrine I'd never have known the silliness. The other camp can be *a lot*.

@thatbrickster@shitposter.club The Pro. It's better than the price suggests. All of its shortcomings are Linux ARM shortcomings. No show-stoppers just little things.

@tk Yeah I used it on my GNUSocial instance. It was great.

@atomicpoet@mastodon.social They're not talking about the tech, they're talking about the cliques

I'm thinking of the old GNUSocial days, I think I was on qvitter.is before self-hosting. All these places hat had been going for years. Now it's all gone.

@elipariser@mastodon.social @jeffjarvis ack when Masto and Activitypub became the dominant force, a form of this sort of happened.

Surgery; wounds

@DrLindseyFitzharris Good luck Dr. Fitzharris. I sincerely hope you make a full and rapid recovery.
