Like don't bitch at people because they get here on time and they leave on time.

I don't really clock watch at work. I do however get here early. My colleague whom repeatedly runs late always remarks at the fact I leave before her, but the basic fact is, she's late in the mornings, and I'm doing my hours.

Frustrating that people do this.

Streaming a Kate Bush concert from 1979 on tilderadio.org for the next two hours.

We're having to do all this level 1 stuff because we lost our guys that did that, and I don't miss this kind of shit at all.

Probably nothing untoward going on but seriously people, be more responsible with your shit.

Some user wonders into our office, hands me an external drive and says 'Can you read this'? So I plug it into our unnetworked Windows box I keep for such things and it turns out it's encrypted.

"Nope"

"I need the data today"

"You're giving me a drive you didn't disclose was encrypted, and you want what's on it? You're out of luck."

Weird thing with this laptop screen: it's in 1920x1080 but virtually every DE or Window manager needs about a 25% bump in DPI or scaling, because otherwise I need a flipping magnifying glass. Windows gets around the problem with a default 150% upscale, which is actually a little too beaucoup.

The Schumacher documentary on Netflix is really good. Brought back a lot of nostalgia for me.

I enjoyed this little film about LOT's 737-MAX (Boeing seem to be on an influencer spree since the MAX relaunch) with Captain Max Handsome and First officer Marcin Boyband.

Quite often you can get the machine into a suspended state but it will then run the cpu so hot it trips the thermal shutdown. That's abnormal.

I've tried numerous OSs on this latitude 7440 and all of them struggle with suspend, even Windows. There's something weird in the hardware.

Nicole Kidman doing Zoolander faces all the way through it didn't help.

I really wanted to like it, but it is one of those stories that would only impress you if you hadn't read much fiction. And I mean that in the least lofty way possible.

White Lotus is good in all the areas 9 Perfect Strangers was bad.

I like Kelly Jones' 'write what you know' simple lyrics and this is another banger from Stereophonics, who were very much the soundtrack to my late 90s days.

Anyway, that's OpenBSD on this rescued Dell Latitude 7440, which works pretty well outside of needing a little USB WiFi dongle as the onboard card isn't supported.

There really ought to be more choice than "I'll do this later", for example "I will never do this, don't ask me again you venture capital pleasing assholes"

One of my great annoyances with Firefox Sync; when signing into a new device (or reinstalled device) you can't opt out of reminder emails about their shitty Android browser, it's assumed you want to install it at some point.
